Award-winning producer Matt Pierson’s discography reads as an overview of the best that contemporary jazz has to offer, including the likes of Brad Mehldau, Joshua Redman, Pat Metheny, Bob James, Kirk Whalum, Jane Monheit, and countless others.
As an executive, Matt led Blue Note’s marketing and A&R departments before being called on by industry legend Mo Ostin to run Jazz A&R for Warner Bros. Records. He signed and in most cases produced a roster of heavyweights, eventually being elevated to Executive VP/GM for the label while making Warner an industry leader, garnering dozens of Grammy Nominations and wins and countless #1 singles and albums. Matt also produced a series of compilations and re-issues, including classic packages featuring Duke Ellington, George Benson, Bill Evans, David Sanborn, Jaco Pastorius, and many more. In 2003, Pierson left Warner Bros. to produce and consult independently. Clients have included Apple, PledgeMusic, Rhino, Mosaic Records, and most recently Sony Masterworks. In the studio, he continues to work with established artists while also focusing on developing and nurturing new talent in the jazz and singer-songwriter worlds. His recent production work ranges from pedal steel master Robert Randolph's "Got Soul" to Tony-winning artist Laura Benanti's debut "Go Slow" to criticallyacclaimed James Maddock’s "Another Life" to rising star jazz vocalist Samara Joy's debut.
